How to market your restaurant in Syria on Instagram and Facebook: a 2026 guide
· Reach Media Network · 3 min read
Most restaurant owners in Syria choose where to advertise by follower count. But when we measured hundreds of pages and accounts, we found follower counts can fool you badly. This is a numbers-based guide to marketing your restaurant or cafe.
Followers are not views
In our measurement of food and restaurant pages in September 2026, well-known restaurant pages with hundreds of thousands of followers got only 550 to 750 views on a normal post. Meanwhile, smaller food pages got 9 to 16 thousand views per post, and a cafe opening video on an active food page reached 95 thousand views.
Views per post (median of the last 6 posts), Reach Media measurement, September 2026. Names hidden.
The reason: many big pages gathered their followers years ago, and most of them stopped seeing the posts. So always ask: how many people saw your last posts? Not how many followers you have.
Instagram or Facebook?
In our measurement of 800 Syrian accounts, an Instagram post reached about half the follower count, and a Facebook post under 5%. Instagram reaches a share about 11 times higher. That does not mean dropping Facebook, whose audience is bigger and older, but a good reel on Instagram travels much further.

Video wins
On the same food pages, video beat images by a wide margin: on one page a video got 1,354 interactions against 284 for an image, on another 62 against 9. People want to see the dish being made, the place and the mood, not a still photo.
When do you need a food creator?
A food creator costs more than a page, but brings diners best: one reel by a Syrian food creator passed 400 thousand views. People trust someone who tried the dish more than the restaurant's own ad. Use one for an opening, a new dish, or when you want customers from outside your neighborhood.
A simple marketing plan for your restaurant
Pick pages by the views on their latest posts, not their follower count.
Film a short reel of the dish and the place, and post it on Instagram first.
Show the address and the booking or WhatsApp number. "Comment for address and prices" brings comments; a number brings calls.
Bring in a food creator for the opening or a new dish.
Repeat: one post is not enough, people need to see the restaurant more than once.
Before paying any page or creator, ask for the views on their latest posts. For a shortlist of pages in your city chosen by real views, request a quote and we will send the list with the numbers.
