Syrian Ad Watch · Week of 25 to 31 October 2026
Salviv's magnesium oil leads Syrian advertising with 307 ad variants, while the next advertiser has 43
We tracked one week of paid ads aimed at Syrians on Facebook and Instagram: who advertises, what they promote, how they do it, and where users should be careful.
Most active
Advertisers who tested the most versions
A version is a variation of the same ad: a different image, text or audience. Many versions mean active testing, but not necessarily high spend: Meta does not publish spend for ads in Syria.

How Syrians advertise
Messaging gains ground: almost half of all ads start with a chat
48% of ads ask viewers to message the page on Messenger or Instagram, 13% on WhatsApp, and only 6% invite a direct purchase.
What the ad asks for
Ad format
Where it runs
Prices in ads
Only 17% of ads show a price, mostly in dollars: 301 ads against 44 in Syrian pounds
This is the price of the product or service written in the ad, not what the advertiser paid for the ad.
of ads show a price
351 of 2,123 ads. The rest ask people to message for the price.
ads priced in dollars
against 44 in Syrian pounds, and 6 that give both.
The sector changes the picture
Pricier sectors such as Umrah trips, cars and clinics are the ones most likely to show a price, and they price in dollars anyway. We will split this by sector and track it weekly.
Sectors
Health and beauty come first with 245 advertisers, followed by shops and then travel
Number of advertiser pages in each sector (1,176 advertisers after removing spam and scams). Classification is automatic, from the page category, its name and the ad text, so the numbers are approximate.
Special files
Payments, jobs and making money
Payment and transfer ads
Payment companies and e-wallets barely advertise. Most ads under these words are shops mentioning cash or instalments, and apps promising earnings withdrawn via Sham Cash.
Job ads
Real employers looking for staff, mixed with fake pages and clickbait stories. Examples from real employers are below.
Make-money ads
Trading brokers, prize wheels and pages promising daily income. This is the riskiest part of the whole sample.

A warning for users and advertisers
A paid ad is no proof that the advertiser can be trusted
of ads in the sample (26 ads from 3 pages) are spam or fake pages. The largest is a network of 3 pages with random-letter names that ran 26 ads in about 26 versions, all with the same text.
ads at least, from small new pages, promise earnings withdrawn through Sham Cash "with no deposit". Sham Cash is the bait here; this warning is not about the service itself.
Sample texts from these ads
Warning signs
- The page has a person's name, not a business name.
- The page has few likes, often under 200.
- It promises fixed daily profit or instant withdrawal with no deposit.
- The same text appears on several different pages.
We do not publish the names or images of scam pages. Classification used an automatic rule plus review, and may contain errors.
How we measured
- We searched Meta's Ad Library for ads reaching Syria that were active between 25 and 31 October 2026, using about 33 search terms covering cities, sectors, payments and jobs.
- We counted an ad as Syrian if it named a Syrian city, carried a Syrian phone number, or was written in Syrian dialect.
- This is a sample, not the whole market: every new round of searches found new advertisers, so we report shares and patterns, not totals.
- Meta does not publish spend or reach for ads in Syria. Sector and spam classification is automatic and may contain errors.
- Ad texts and images are as their owners published them in Meta's Ad Library. Data collected on 1 November 2026.
